When it comes to planning a wedding, one of the most important decisions you'll make is choosing the date. While there are many factors to consider, the time of year can significantly influence the overall vibe and aesthetic of your special day. Each season in Illinois offers its own unique charm and opportunities, and understanding these can help you create a wedding that feels just right.
Spring Weddings
Why Choose Spring?
Spring is often associated with new beginnings, which makes it a beautiful metaphor for marriage. The fresh blooms and gentle weather create a naturally romantic setting perfect for outdoor ceremonies and garden receptions.
Pros:
-
Abundant Florals: Spring offers an array of flowers in full bloom, from tulips to peonies, allowing for stunning floral arrangements. At Pole Barn Chic, we have planted several types of flowers so that there will always be flowers in bloom.
-
Mild Weather: Temperatures are generally comfortable, reducing concerns about extreme heat or cold. And, cooler temperatures are not scary for us! Pole Barn Chic Events offers several commercial outside heaters for rent.
Cons:
-
Unpredictable Weather: Showers can be frequent, so it’s essential to have a contingency plan for rain. At Pole Barn Chic Events, we do have an outdoor pad and an indoor venue, as well. We do offer the inside of the pole barn, if weather prevails. We do have a weather contingency, which gives you the ability to go indoors for the event. We require a 72 hour notice to make that request.
Spring Wedding Ideas
Incorporate pastel colors and floral motifs into your decor. Think about an outdoor garden ceremony followed by a tented reception with twinkling fairy lights.
I would also like to add that if you have allergies, then you need to heed warning! Both spring and fall can be brutal with allergies with the fields in and around Springfield, Illinois. Please consider this when picking a wedding date. Nobody wants puffy or squinty eyes in wedding pictures!
Summer Weddings
Why Choose Summer?
Summer weddings are synonymous with long, sunny days and vibrant celebrations. If you're envisioning a beautiful ceremony or a lively outdoor reception, summer might be the perfect season for you.
Pros:
-
Extended Daylight: Longer days allow for late-afternoon ceremonies without feeling rushed. Daylight savings time ends in late fall, so you will have a lot of light in the summer night. However, if your night were to go later than anticipated the outside lighting at Pole Barn Chic will absolutely get you thru!
-
Vacation Season: Guests may find it easier to take time off work for a summer wedding. And, if that's the case, we've got you covered with hotel assistance! And PS. those hotels are directly across the street from Pole Barn Chic Events!
Cons:
-
Heat and Humidity: High temperatures can be uncomfortable, particularly for outdoor events. However, luckily for everyone, Pole Barn Chic is airconditioned!
Summer Wedding Ideas
Consider a destination wedding by a pool or a vibrant garden party. Use bold colors and refreshing cocktails to keep guests cool.
On a side note, please remember that with the heat of the summer also can cause flair ups to your body if you tend to get rashes! Certainly Springfield, Illinois isn’t the hottest city in the US, but, it does get up to over 100 degrees. That needs to not only be taken into account, but also perhaps providing your guests with a hand fan isn’t a bad idea, either!
Fall Weddings
Why Choose Fall?
Fall weddings offer a cozy, romantic ambiance with a backdrop of colorful foliage. The season's rich hues and crisp air can provide a warm and inviting atmosphere for your celebration.
Pros:
-
Stunning Scenery: The changing leaves create breathtaking natural backdrops for photos. The fields surrounding Pole Barn Chic Events are filled with corn and beans and always have a rotating crop. News is, there will also be a solar farm put in soon, as well!
Cons:
-
Shorter Days: The sun sets earlier, which can impact scheduling for photography and outdoor events. The reason that is a con, is because there are so many different places to take pictures on the Pole Barn Chic Events property, that you can definitely run out of sunlight before you run out of time.
Fall Wedding Ideas
Incorporate rustic elements and rich autumn colors into your decor. Consider serving seasonal dishes like pumpkin soup or apple cider cocktails.
If that ceremony is being held outside, I suggest an area for your guests to warm up. Be it handwarmers on the seat or even a small lap blanket at each chair, they will really, really appreciate such a kind action.
Winter Weddings
Why Choose Winter?
Winter weddings can be magical, with the potential for a snow-dusted landscape and a cozy, intimate atmosphere. If you love the idea of a formal, elegant celebration, winter might be the season for you.
Pros:
-
Lower Costs: Theoretically, less competition for venues and vendors, winter weddings can be more budget-friendly. We have found that winter seems to be a busy time for Pole Barn Chic Events. Not only do we have several winter weddings, but we also have several corporate holiday events, as well. Companies even schedule their parties with us into January.
Cons:
Winter Wedding Ideas
Opt for a glamorous indoor venue with dramatic lighting and rich, luxurious fabrics. Incorporate seasonal foliage and warm, hearty menu options to complement the season. At Pole Barn Chic we have a glamorous venue, with dramatic lighting all year long. Plus, we have glass cupolas with crystal chandeliers! You can watch the snow fall in the sky while you dance beneath it.
Choosing the right season for your wedding is a personal decision that depends on your preferences, budget, and vision for your big day. By considering the pros and cons of each season, you can create a wedding that captures the essence of your love and creates cherished memories.
